June 12 - Today we walked about 13 miles from Redondela to Pontevedra. For the most part we walked along a path nestled among vegetation and small farms. It was peaceful and breathtaking. We stopped at a great panaderia (bakery) for a break, and its motto summed up our day, "No hay palabras," which means there are no words.
Therefore, instead of saying a lot with words, we will let our pictures do the talking. So we have more pictures today than usual. You can see a good part of our walk was over large rocks. Many of these rocks had ruts about 4-inches deep by 4-inches wide. These ruts were worn into the rocks by the ancient wagons that traveled the Camino for centuries. It was fun to think about our footprints joining the footprints of so many others.
In some areas, the path was steep, and it seemed as though we moved like slugs. Therefore, we've included some pictures of the many large slugs we've seen the past few days (hehe).
It was a very peaceful walk that made it easy to ponder and reflect. We hope these pictures help you feel like you are walking along with us.
